Paralia Beach Katerini Paralia, Olympus Region

City Beach Paralia near Katerini in the Olympus Region

Paralia is an almost 3-kilometer-long sandy beach that runs along the entire length of the summer resort of the same name. Along the entire beach, there are numerous cafes offering sunbeds and sun umbrellas. The seabed is also sandy, and the sea is so shallow that it will take you a few minutes of walking in the water to reach deeper water. This long shallow area is perfect for carefree children's play, of course under adult supervision.

As the word "paralia" means beach in Greek, we will focus on describing the beach itself, which in this case is called Paralia. In fact, when we describe Paralia Beach, we are describing the beach of the city called Katerini, which is about 8 km away from its beach.

Basic features of Paralia Beach

  1. Sandy beach
  2. You can also rent a pedal boat or kayak here
  3. Very crowded beach (often quite busy)
  4. The sea is very warm
  5. Jellyfish often appear

In addition to the fun in the shallow water, you can also rent a pedal boat or kayak here. Interestingly, no matter how long and wide this beach is, it is always crowded during peak season. If you wanted to be alone and quietly enjoy the view of the open sea, this is not the place for you. Everything is lively and bustling. Of course, with so many people, the water inevitably becomes murky and turns from blue to brown. If you prefer "blue sea" and a bit more peace and relaxation on the beach, choose another beach in the Olympus region.

Another point, which can be an advantage for some and a disadvantage for others, is that the sea at Paralia Beach is very warm. Therefore, when we combine warm sea with shallow water and many cafes, we get an ideal place for parents with small children. However, there is always something to spoil the fun, and in this case, it is the frequent appearance of jellyfish. If you are coming to the beach by car, avoid parking in the center due to the crowd, and instead choose the left or right side of the resort.
