Pydna Beach Makrygialos Makrygialos, Olympus Region

Pydna Beach near Makrygialos in the Olympus Region

Pydna is a small and hidden sandy beach with exceptionally shallow water, making it ideal for parents with small children. Although this beach does not attract many visitors, even a small number can easily stir up the water, turning its beautiful light blue shade into brown. Additionally, like almost every beach with shallow and warm water, small jellyfish occasionally appear.

Getting to Pydna Beach is not very straightforward. If you are coming from the highway, exit at Makrygialos and then you need about 4 km more to reach Pydna Beach. A dead-end street, which also serves as a parking area, leads to the beach.

Basic features of Pydna Beach

  1. Sandy beach
  2. The beach has a shower cabin and a changing cabin
  3. There is natural shade
  4. There is a tavern on the beach that offers sun umbrellas and sunbeds

Pydna Beach also has a shower cabin and a changing cabin, and if you arrive early, you can take a spot in the natural shade. On the beach, there is a tavern that offers sun umbrellas and sunbeds, as well as a canteen where you can get basic necessities. Of course, this applies to the summer season, and as soon as summer ends, the tavern and canteen cease operations.

We have saved the most important thing for last. On the left side of the beach, there is a large rock with an important archaeological site on top - the ancient city of Pydna. This used to be the most important city in the Pieria region until the 14th century. From the site where the city of Pydna once stood, there is a beautiful view of the beach and the Thessaloniki Bay.
