Xi Beach Cephalonia
Xi Beach is located at the southern tip of the Paliki peninsula, in the western part of the island of Cephalonia. It stretches for about 4 km and is situated 7 km away from the touristic resort of Lixouri. You can reach this beach by car or by bus from Lixouri.
RED SAND AT XI BEACH
For visitors who come here for the first time, the most striking feature is, of course, the red sand, which is formed from soft and medicinal clay. This clay is found right next to the beach on cliffs that are 10 to 15 meters high. So, you have the sea, the red-bordeaux color of the beach, and the high cliff. It truly looks strange to see all of this for the first time, especially in Cephalonia where you would never expect such a thing. However, the real value of this beach lies not in the red sand or medicinal clay, but you guessed it - in walking!
EXPERIENCES AT XI BEACH
If you're not a fan of swimming, this is the perfect place for you! There's no swimming here whatsoever, so prepare a sombrero, get some mud on yourself, find a company, and embark on a leisurely stroll. While children play in the shallows (500 meters from the shore), you can enjoy sunbathing, socializing, or the aforementioned walk without worries. The sea is warm and clear, and the sand is soft, so everything is perfect for safe children's play.
XI BEACH HAS A LARGE NUMBER OF BARS
If you're more of a beach person, you can enjoy your favourite drink at one of the many beach bars nearby. There are kayaks and pedal boats anchored in the shallows, and although I honestly have no idea where they go, since they are here, you can somehow engage in water sports. There are also several showers that will come in handy when you decide you've had enough of enjoying the medicinal properties of this beach.
