Tigania Beach Sithonia Kriaritsi, Sithonia

Tigania Beach Sithonia

Tigania is a sandy beach with turquoise water, reminiscent of Orange Beach (aka Portokali), except it is surrounded by rocks rather than a pine forest. Tigania Beach is larger than Orange Beach, so you won’t feel overly crowded. However, during the peak season, it might be harder to find a sunbed in the café if you arrive late.

If someone had told me 10 years ago that this place would be one of the most popular beaches in Sithonia, I wouldn’t have believed them. Just like in football, where talent accounts for only 10% and hard work for the rest, local entrepreneurs realized that the fantastic nature around Tigania Beach means nothing if not properly developed and adapted to the needs of increasingly demanding tourists. With a lot of effort, hard work, and creativity, they have created a place that we can freely call a small paradise. Today, Tigania Beach is among the TOP 3 most beautiful beaches in Sithonia.

Even the locals who take care of goats and produce cheese probably wouldn't be able to find the way to Tigania Beach on the first try. So don’t worry if you miss the path to this beautiful hidden beach a few times.

How to Get to Tigania Beach and Where to Park

The key is to reach the parking lot of the future resort Kriaritsi, the one closest to Tigania Beach. The parking lot is paved, spacious, and free. Once you park, you’ll need to walk down to the beach. The distance is about 300 meters, so consider how much you carry with you, as you will need to walk back uphill.

Fortunately, the descent to the beach is not difficult and doesn’t require hiking skills, but the ascent can be quite strenuous. The good news is that there is a nice bar with sunbeds and sun umbrellas on the beach, which can be very crowded during the peak season. Hence, it is recommended to arrive early at Tigania Beach during this period.

Besides this parking option, you can also drive those 300 meters down to avoid walking. Although the road looks like a roller coaster, I have seen all types of vehicles succeed in this feat. Therefore, for those who dare, this is an option too.

The beach itself consists of three parts: two wider beaches on the left and right sides and a small cove in between. The left and right beaches are physically separated, so you will need to walk a bit if you want to move from one to the other.

Tigania is an Ideal Place for Parents with Small Children

Additionally, this is an ideal place for parents with small children. Besides the accessible sandy shallow area, there are many rocks around with plenty of crabs, making it great for snorkelling. The sea is also sandy, though in some spots, further out, you may encounter rocks.
